This update comes from Richard, AJ4UX
Sam’s wife Elizabeth called my home this morning at 7:25 am ET to report that she took Sam to hospital Friday night and that he was admitted. She had just returned home to get some sleep.
I called Saturday afternoon to check on Sam’s situation but did not get Elizabeth as she was at the hospital. She returned my call tonight and left a message that Sam is experiencing internal bleeding and the doctors as yet have not identified the source, but that Sam would be undergoing tests Sunday morning to identify the cause.
December 04 2016 | Members and Nets and News | Comments Off on Status of Sam Haynes, East Coast 40 meter RV Service Net manager
The 40 meter Eastern/Central Net needs a net control operator for the first hour on Wednesdays and a full-time net control operator for the first hour on Sundays starting November 26. Please contact Sam Haynes (WA4ICK), the net manager, if you are willing to volunteer for either of these openings or if you can help out every once in a while.

The time changes from Daylight Savings to Standard Time on Sunday, November 6. Does that mean the RV Service Net times are also changing?
The answer to that question is a definitive “maybe.” It depends on if you keep your logs in UTC or local time.
The local start times for the nets will remain the same. For example, standard time zone times for the nets will be:
- Eastern/Central USA and Canada Net: 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. EST
- Rocky Mountain Net: 6:30 – 8:00 MST
- Pacific Coast Net: 9:00 – 10:00 PST
If you live in the world of UTC, the start times for the nets will move:
- Eastern/Central USA and Canada Net: from 11:00 UTC to 12:00 UTC
- Rocky Mountain Net: 12:30 UTC to 13:30 UTC
- Pacific Coast Net: 16:00 UTC to 17:00 UTC
So, the nets will operate at the same local times, but will be an hour later when looking at UTC and that may help you hear more signals during the nets.

The WBCCI Amateur Radio Club and the RV Service Nets have a new home on the World Wide Web. A recent discussion on the 40 meter Eastern/Central RV Service Net concluded that the old URL was difficult for many net control operators to say over-the-air. This started a quick discussion among the club’s officers, who quickly approved moving to a new address.
The new address is:
This should be easier to both say and understand over the air.
Currently, both our new rvnet.wbcci.net and old rvsvcnet.wbcci.net addresses work for the club. We are putting together a migration plan with the WBCCI Electronic Communication Committee to help make the complete move as seamless as possible.
The new address is active and can be shared with everyone.
